The building  the restaurant is located in was originally a fondaco, a meeting and refreshment place of the ancient cart drivers presumably at the service of the nobility. The name of the restaurant, as well as the same via del Fondaco, then, take their cue from the ancient function that the place used to have.

The same restaurant logo mimics the arched window, a feature of the medieval Torre Scrigno, adjacent to the Palazzo Conte Federico, whose function was to protect the ancient Porta Busuemi, one of the old access way to the city of Palermo, which was surrounded by the defensive walls of Punic origin, upon which was built the magnificent palace.
